QUILTS OF THE UNDERGROUD RAILROAD
Our presenter for our evening Guild meeting is Sharon Zonker. She is a retired teacher and long-time Civil War "Buff". Over the years, Sharon has gathered stories and information focusing on the UNDERGROUND ROADROAD.
Sharon herself is a quilter and will focus on the importance of quilting in this monumental way. There were specific quilt blocks that were integral to the success of the Underground Railroad. Those blocks in a quilt that gave the preparatory plan and then directions on that important path to freedom for those escaping slavery.
Presto Avenue Designs
For August's program our featured speaker is Claudia Lash from Presto Avenue Designs. Her lecture for the evening will be “Design Ideas and Tips I’ve Learned”. Claudia is an expert quilter and develops her own line of original design quilt patterns. Fortunately, there is also a daytime workshop – Flower Hugs. This wall hanging features Foundation Paper Piecing and English Paper Piecing.
